Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 12, 2026Auberge des Battures cares about your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can exercise your rights. It was prepared in accordance with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (CQLR, c. P-39.1), as amended by Law 25.
1. Who and what this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information collected by Auberge des Battures ("the Inn", "we", "our") through the following platforms:
- hotel-saguenay.com
- battures.ca
- obatillage.com
- our Facebook and Instagram pages
It does not cover third-party websites that our platforms may link to. Those sites have their own policies, which we encourage you to read.
A separate policy applies to the personal information of our employees and job applicants. It is available on request from the privacy officer identified below.
What personal information means
Any information that relates to a natural person and allows that person to be identified, either on its own or in combination with other information.

3. What we collect
We collect only the information necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
When you book a stay or a table
First and last name, email address, phone number, mailing address, stay dates, preferences related to your stay, and payment information.
When you contact us
Through a form, live chat or email, we collect the contact details you provide along with the content of your message.
When you browse our sites
Certain technical information is collected automatically, such as your IP address, your browser and your language preference. Section 6 details the cookies we use.
We never collect sensitive information that is not necessary to deliver our services.
4. Why we collect it
- To process and confirm your accommodation and restaurant reservations
- To answer your questions and requests
- To process payments and issue receipts
- To ensure the security of our premises and our platforms
- To meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations
- To improve our services and our visitors' experience
If we wish to use your information for a purpose not described here, we will ask for your consent beforehand.
5. Your consent
We obtain your consent before collecting, using or disclosing your personal information, except where the law allows us to act without it.
Your consent is given freely, for specific purposes, and for the time necessary to fulfil those purposes. You may withdraw it at any time by writing to the privacy officer identified in section 2, subject to information we are required to keep in order to meet our legal or contractual obligations.
6. Cookies
A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a website.
We sort cookies into four categories. Only necessary cookies are placed automatically. The other three categories are activated only if you consent to them.

How to change your choices
A preferences window appears on your first visit. You can reopen it at any time through the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page. You may also configure your browser to block or delete cookies, though this could interfere with the site working properly.
7. Who we share your information with
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with the providers that allow us to operate our services, and only to the extent necessary for their mandate.

Each of these providers is bound by an agreement governing the use and protection of your information. We may also disclose your information where the law requires it, including at the request of a competent authority.
8. Hosting and transfers outside Quebec
Some of our providers store or process personal information outside Quebec, including in Canada, the United States and Europe.
Before entrusting personal information to a provider located outside Quebec, we carry out a privacy impact assessment to confirm that the information receives adequate protection, and we govern the transfer through a written agreement.
Transferred information may be subject to the laws of the country where it is processed.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, and then for the period required by law.
- Reservation records and accounting documents: 7 years
- Information requests and chat conversations: 24 months
Once those periods end, the information is securely destroyed or anonymized.
10. How we protect it
We apply physical, administrative and technological security measures proportionate to the sensitivity of the information, including:
- Limiting access to the people who need it to carry out their duties
- Encrypting communications on our sites
- Training our staff on the protection of personal information
- Selecting providers that offer adequate security guarantees
11. Your rights
Under Law 25, you may at any time:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Have it corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous
- Withdraw your consent to its use or disclosure
- Request its deletion where keeping it is no longer necessary
- Obtain a copy in a structured, commonly used technological format
- Request that we stop disseminating information about you, or de-index a hyperlink that gives access to it
To exercise any of these rights, write to the privacy officer identified in section 2. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request.
12. Confidentiality incidents
If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we undertake to:
- Notify you as promptly as possible
- Notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec
- Take the corrective measures needed to limit the harm and prevent it from happening again
We also maintain a register of confidentiality incidents, as the law requires.
13. If you are not satisfied
Please first address your complaint to our privacy officer at admin@battures.ca. We undertake to acknowledge it and follow up.
If our response does not satisfy you, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec:

14. Changes to this policy
We may amend this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in legal requirements. The date of the most recent update appears at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will let you know through our platforms.
